Grove of Titans and Atlas Grove

The wife and I took a little trip up to the redwoods to find the Grove of Titans and Atlas Grove. It was a pretty phenomenal trip...

We headed up to Jedidiah Smith Redwood State Park first. Here's a picture of the view from the road on the way there.

As we were hiking toward our target location we ran into a little friend...

Finding the Grove of Titans was a lot of fun. One of our favorite trees was El Viejo Del Norte.

The Lost Monarch was also amazing though difficult to truly take in as most of it is obscured from a full view.

We visited several of the other trees in the area and before we left the grove we ran into another little friend.

Next, we headed down toward Prairie Creek National Park to look for Atlas Grove. We found it after a bit of searching. We were both in awe of the beauty of the grove... pillars that only nature could create. We spent the day wandering around in the seclusion of the grove taking in the grandeur of trees like Illuvatar...

...and Atlas Tree.

It is amazing how these beings inspire reflection of time and size on a level not commonly thought of in every day life. As the day was winding down, we took in the sunset and looked forward to the next time we would come to visit the redwoods.
